Katie’s Elevated Cambria Travels

Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.

Traveling and getting out of your current town is part of living life her Elevated.

The benefits are endless, but most of all, there is a big world out there and it’s waiting for you to adventure through it. With Katie’s Elevated Travels — I’ll occasionally be sharing some of my fave places to go - near and far.

Happy Traveling,
Katie

Have more than a couple nights for a CA getaway…head south to Cambria! A lot of people make their way to Morro Bay, but if you’re looking for the true gem of peace, quiet, waves, and views, Cambria is your golden girl.

  • My faves of Cambria:

    • Hidden Kitchen - little pop up waffles delight. Cayucos location is much better, but this one is near and cute.

    • Robin’s Restaurant - be sure to make reservations, a yummy variety for all

    • Cayucos Cellars - say hi to the corgi and pop into the shops next door.  Shops listed below!

    • Shops: Garden Shed, Ocean Heir, Home Arts by the Sea, Simplistic Home

    • Farmer’s Market on Friday’s: @soupgangsta is well known for her soup. She offers two varieties and it’s first come first serve - typically vegan and soooo good!

    • Fiscalini Ranch Preserve - such a great walk during the fresh morning air or during sunset. It’s about two miles round trip. If you can find an Airbnb within walking distance - bonus. Here is one I recently stayed at and loved: Stay Here or Here!

      • This area is called the lower terrace. There are three access points to the beach. It’s the perfect place for shell hunting during low tide and watching the sunset…plus, not many people at all.

    • Hearst Winery: Not too far from Cambria — Hearst Winery on the ocean. Sip wine, hear the waves and sea lions. It’s a perfect casual place. Sometimes they have food trucks, make reservations.

My next fave - Cayucos:

  • Cayucos Coffee - some of the best iced coffee around, plus, such a cute vibe. Grab a coffee then head across the street to the following…

  • Bijou Bakery - if you’re gluten free, you’ll be happy with this place. Such treats and delights to add to your morning. Hurry, they run out!

  • Hidden Kitchen — the gem of the Hidden Kitchens. This is right across from the ocean, such a great vibe inside and the carnitas tacos are all you need in life. So many great things to try that you might come here a few times.

Hidden Kitchen, Cayucos!

Order up front, try a few things, find a table at the patio — waves and seagulls for white noise.

Last Bits of fun…

If you keep driving south you can enjoy some of the following:

  • Los Osos: High Street Deli - Baywood Park + Nautical Bean

  • Montana de Oro State Park - great hiking and bluff walks

Shell Collection!

Low tide and sunset time at the lower terrace rocky beach…perfect for collecting shells and discovering small sea creatures.

If you head to Cambria, let me know! Any questions, reach out to me!

Disclaimer with Katie’s her Elevated Travels: I don’t always like to go to trendy/touristy places when I travel so this is not a highlight of instagram destinations or places where you have to wait hours to eat :)
